Estraden is the most famous stage for poetry readings in Stockholm since 1985.
Through all these years thousands of poets, writers and performers have red texts from their own publications with or without their musicians.
Among them are seven nobel prize winners, Joseph Brodsky, Derek Walcott, Kenzaburo Oe, Seamus Heaney, José Saramago, Imre Kertész who have red parts of their literary works at our stage.
Estraden has had its main stage in Södra Teatern (Southern Theatre).
Established in 1859, it's Stockholm's oldest private theatre. It has two restaurants, outdoor terraces and seven stages. Since 1997, focus has been set on staging international performances. The theatre houses diverse events, spanning from club-scene entertainment, concerts, theatre and readings. The utdoor terrace has an amazing view over the older parts of the city.
Ola Torbiörnson is the chairman of Estraden which means he’s responsible for invitations of poets and other artists that write poetry to Södra Teatern and other stages in Europe.
He also make a short presentation of the poets and his/her performers on stage before the event.
